SHA deeply saddened by passing of the Most Venerable Kok Kwong

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (November 16) was deeply saddened to learn the death of the Most Venerable Kok Kwong.  
    
     "The Most Venerable Kok Kwong has dedicated his life to Buddhism and charitable works. As the founder and President of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association, he has made exemplary efforts in promoting Buddhism, Chinese Buddhism as well as arts and culture for over 50 years. While uniting the Buddhist community, he has also enhanced co-operation with other religious organisations. Under his initiation, The Buddha's birthday was made a public holiday after the reunification. He has made tremendous contributions in enhancing ties between Buddhist organisations in Hong Kong with those across the strait and overseas. He will always live in our memory," Mr Tsang said.
