"We are pleased that Mr Arthur Luk has accepted the appointment to serve on the EAC. Mr Luk worked in the Department of Justice for 25 years and has prosecuted major trials over the years. Mr Luk was Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions when he retired from the Department in 2010.      "We would also like to thank the outgoing member, Mr Lawrence Lok Ying-kam, SC, for his valuable contributions during his years of service," the spokesman added.

The EAC is an independent statutory body established under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance. Its responsibilities include making recommendations on geographical constituency boundaries, and making regulations, guidelines and arrangements for the registration of electors and the conduct of public elections. The main objective of the EAC is to ensure that public elections are conducted in an open, fair and honest manner.
