Twenty-one building plans approved in September

     The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in September, with six on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 10 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments and three were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 12 building projects that, when completed, will provide 25 918 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 173 units, and 91 177 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for six building projects.

     The department also issued 21 occupation permits, with three on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 204 820 sq m, involving 2 527 units, and 120 342 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in September totalled about $7.3 billion.

     In addition, eight demolition consents involving eight building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 698 reports about unauthorised building works in September, and issued 494 removal orders on unauthorised works.
