The Legislative Council Secretariat (the Secretariat) launched an upgraded version (version 2.0) of the mobile application for the Legislative Council (LegCo App) today (November 12).
The Secretariat has been receiving positive feedback since the launch of the LegCo App (version 1.0) in February 2014 and users find it a convenient tool for accessing information on various LegCo meetings and activities. Taking into account the suggestions received from users, the Secretariat has included three new functions in the current upgrade, namely Webcast, Social Media Sharing and e-Books.
Descriptions of each new feature are as below:
Webcast
-------
This new feature allows users to watch and listen to live broadcast of open meetings of LegCo and its Committees on their mobile devices. These broadcasts will then be archived and indexed by agenda items. This enables users to conveniently search for and play back the meeting proceedings of a particular item, anytime and anywhere.
Social Media Sharing

This new feature allows users to share video clips of open meetings of LegCo and its Committees, and photos of Members at official events and activities via social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and WhatsApp.
e-Books
-------
A series of LegCo procedural rules in the form of an e-book can now be viewed on the new LegCo App. These include the Rules of Procedure of the Legislative Council, House Rules, Finance Committee Procedure, Establishment Subcommittee Procedure and Public Works Subcommittee Procedure. A content search function is also provided to facilitate quick access to the desired information. Users may also download these rules in PDF (Portable Document Format).
Members of the public may now download the new LegCo App (version 2.0) or perform upgrade for free from Apple App Store or Google Play, as appropriate, for their mobile devices to keep themselves abreast of the LegCo business. This app is also available for download from the LegCo Website at www.legco.gov.hk/english/mobile-app.html. This new LegCo App supports devices running on Apple iOS (version 5.0 or later) and Android (version 4.0.4 or later).
