Transcript of remarks by Acting CE at media session before ExCo meeting (with video)
***********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Acting Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session before the Executive Council meeting today (November 11):

Acting Chief Executive: I just want to say a few words in English. Yesterday afternoon the High Court, having heard representations from various parties, has decided to continue the injunction orders with regard to certain occupied areas at Admiralty and also in Mong Kok.

I believe we all agree that the rule of law is the cornerstone of Hong Kong's success, the foundation of our democracy and an important core value of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong SAR Government is committed to safeguarding the rule of law, and members of public have always respected court decisions.

An injunction is a solemn order made by the court which should be fully respected and strictly followed by all. So I strongly urge protesters who are still staying in the occupied areas, whether the areas are covered by the injunctions or not, they should voluntarily and peacefully leave the areas as soon as possible so that the roads as well as the building entrances could be reopened.

The court has already authorised the bailiff to request Police assistance where necessary and has authorised the Police to arrest and remove anyone obstructing or interfering with any bailiff in enforcing the terms of the injunction orders. So, with a view to protecting the due administration of justice and upholding the rule of law, the Police will give full assistance, including making arrest where necessary to enforce the injunction orders in such ways as the court instructs.

So I call on those who are still unlawfully blocking the roads in Hong Kong to leave the occupied areas peacefully of their own accord and end the occupy movement as soon as possible.
