Fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan in the small hours today (November 11) in which a 53-year-old man was killed.

     About 2am, a light goods vehicle driven by a 29-year-old man, a container truck driven by a 56-year-old man and a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 53-year-old man were travelling in sequence along Tsing Long Highway towards the New Territories. When reaching near Tai Lam Tunnel, the first two vehicles reportedly stopped due to traffic conditions but the MGV failed to brake, resulting in a chain collision.

     The MGV caught fire and the body of its 53-year-old driver was found inside the compartment after the fire was put out by firemen that sped to the scene.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are underway.

     Anyone who might have witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3661 1300.
