SHA's Commendation Scheme presentation ceremony (with photo)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs (SHA), Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (November 10) presented commendation certificates and award pins to 114 persons for their remarkable contribution in various areas, including community building, building management, charitable work and caring for the underprivileged.

     Mr Tsang congratulated and complimented the awardees for their tremendous contribution to society and their enthusiastic participation in community service.

     He said, "The HKSAR Government has all along adhered to the principle of 'people-based' governance to provide a better living environment for the people, and this requires support from various sectors of the community.

     "The ceremony today is to recognise and commend the awardees' selfless dedication to the community and to inspire more people to join them. We also hope to boost positive energy as well as to create a more caring Hong Kong."

     The SHA's Commendation Scheme, introduced in 2002, aims to recognise individuals who make outstanding contributions to community building, community service and development of sport, culture and art.
