Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, at a media session after attending the opening ceremony of "Making the Future of Our Younger Generation - Life Planning Education Forum" this afternoon (November 10):

Reporter: One of the reports of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority claims that schools should go deeper into the education of the rule of law instead of just educating students about executing the law or obeying the law. How will the bureau execute later to have a better education on that?

Secretary for Education: The public examination/assessment is the responsibility of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority. Every year, after the public examination, they would do a summary. The purpose of the summary is to share among the teachers and schools about the performance of individual subjects, without names of students, of course. By doing so, hopefully every year teachers and schools will be able to pick up whatever the learning points or lessons to learn, in order to improve further the teaching and learning process. From this particular case, my understanding is that actually the concept of the rule of law is something much broader than what it is about execution as well as the compliance of law. It is much broader than that. So the idea is to pick up this particular extreme example as a point of learning so that people understand they need to take a more multi perspective of each and every definition. This is also part of the multi-angle learning. Thank you.
