SCED to attend APEC ministerial meeting in Beijing

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Beijing tomorrow (November 6) to attend the 26th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting (AMM) to be held on November 7 and 8.

     Under the theme "Shaping the Future through Asia-Pacific Partnership" for APEC this year, participating ministers will review the achievements of APEC over the past 25 years and discuss ways to enhance the role of APEC in the evolving global and regional contexts. They will also hold discussions on how to strengthen the Asia-Pacific partnership, and consider and agree on actions under the priorities of advancing regional economic integration, promoting innovative development, economic reform and growth, and strengthening comprehensive connectivity and infrastructure development.

     On the sidelines of the AMM, Mr So will also meet with the trade ministers of other member economies to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

     Mr So will return to Hong Kong in the evening on November 8. The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Godfrey Leung, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Mr So's absence.
