The Amber Room, the most famous room in the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo, has been acclaimed as the "Eighth Wonder of the World". It was decorated with large amber panels that were presented by King Frederick William I of Prussia to Tsar Peter I of Russia as gifts in 1716 to mark the alliance between the two countries. The four Florentine mosaics of coloured stones were another diplomatic gift from the Austrian royal house of Habsburg. The Catherine Palace will be presented in a 360-degree virtual reality zone in this exhibition, where the visitors will be shown eight of its rooms in life size.
