TAC welcomes Railway Development Strategy 2014
**********************************************

Members of the Transport Advisory Committee (TAC) were briefed by the Government today (October 28) on the Railway Development Strategy 2014 and the way forward.

The members noted that seven new railway projects were recommended to be implemented by 2026, having regard to transport demand, cost-effectiveness and the development needs of New Development Areas and other new developments.

"Members welcome the Administration's plan to expand the railway network and continue to use railways as the backbone of our passenger transport system," said the TAC Chairman, Mr Larry Kwok.

"We trust that the recommended schemes, if taken forward, will help achieve Hong Kong's long-term planning, development, transport and environmental objectives."
