Lee Chun-chow and Sean Curran to star in "Waiting for Godot" (with photos)
************************************************************

Theatre du Pif will perform Irish playwright Samuel Beckett's classic absurdist play "Waiting for Godot" in January next year. Local theatre masters Lee Chun-chow and Sean Curran, who have not starred together in four years, will participate in this much-awaited production.

The tragicomedy unfolds with two tramps moving around a lonely tree. They wait to meet up with Mr Godot, who they hope will change their lives for the better. Instead, two eccentric travellers arrive.

The production is directed by award-winning Irish director Mikel Murfi. Besides Lee and Curran, the high-calibre cast includes Michael Pizzuto and Ben Margalith.

Theatre du Pif was formed in Scotland in 1992 by Bonni Chan and Sean Curran and devised productions that toured around the UK and Europe. In 1995, Theatre du Pif relocated to Hong Kong and became known for its cross-cultural heritage and productions performed in Cantonese, English or both. Using a workshop and devising process as well as collaborations with dramatists and artists from other disciplines, the company orchestrates movement, text and visual images to create new productions acclaimed for their power and their poetry.

"Waiting for Godot", to be performed in English with Chinese surtitles, is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be held at 8pm from January 9 to 11, 2015 (Friday to Sunday) and 3pm on January 10 and 11 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Studio Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
