Police today (October 22) arrested a 20-year-old man in suspected connection with a criminal intimidation case.
On October 19, a police officer reported that a message was posted on an online forum, stating that someone had been tasked to attack a family member of the officer and inciting other Internet users to disseminate the officerˇ¦s photographs.
Following in-depth investigations by officers of the Technology Crime Division of Commercial Crime Bureau, the 20-year-old man was arrested for criminal intimidation in Wan Chai this morning. He will be detained overnight pending further enquiries.
Police seized a computer, two notebook computers and a mobile phone, in suspected connection with the case.
Police remind members of the public that most Hong Kong laws to prevent crime with physical world ordinances apply equally to the cyber world.
