The Home Affairs Bureau announced today (October 20) appointments to three Museum Advisory Panels, namely the Art Museum Advisory Panel (AMAP), the History Museum Advisory Panel (HMAP) and the Science Museum Advisory Panel (SMAP), with the re-appointment of Mr Vincent Lo Wing-sang as Chairman of the AMAP and Professor Roland Chin Tai-hong as Chairman of the SMAP, and the appointment of Mr Stanley Wong Yuen-fai, the former SMAP member, as the new Chairman of the HMAP.
All the appointments are for a two-year term from October 20, 2014 to October 19, 2016.
The three Museum Advisory Panels, established on October 20, 2010, comprise members of different backgrounds with a great wealth of professional expertise and experience relevant to the work of the museums, including professionals, academics, museum experts, artists, collectors, art promoters, entrepreneurs, marketing and public relations experts, and community leaders. The panels advise the Leisure and Cultural Services Department on the positioning, strategies for development, promotion and management of the respective stream of public museums.
A spokesman for the Home Affairs Bureau thanked the panels for their valued support and contributions in the past two years, including Dr Philip Wu Po-him, the outgoing HMAP Chairman; Professor Tracey Lu Lie-dan, Mr Joseph Luc Ngai and Dr Royce Yuen Man-chun, the outgoing HMAP members; and Ms Beryl Chen Chao-yung and Professor Cheng Shiu-yuen, the outgoing SMAP members, and looked forward to receiving the new panels' valuable advice on the development of the public museums.
