Transcript of remarks by CS at media session (with video)
*********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session after attending the 2014 Honours and Awards Presentation Ceremony at Government House today (October 18):

Chief Secretary for Administration: I am pleased to say that good progress has been made in the preparation for the dialogue between representatives of the Hong Kong Federation of Students and the Constitutional Development Task Force. This dialogue is now likely to take place next Tuesday afternoon. In fact, this is the earliest of three days that we have given to the Federation of Students. So we prefer an early day to have this dialogue with the Federation of Students. The venue is going to be the Academy of Medicine building in Wong Chuk Hang, subject to confirmation later. And despite some earlier reservation about having a moderator in the dialogue, the student representatives have now agreed that we could have a moderator for the meeting. So I went back to approach the heads of the universities and institutions, and they have nominated the convenor of the heads of universities committee, who is Professor Leonard Cheng, the President of the Lingnan University. So I have already approached Professor Cheng, and when he comes back to Hong Kong, we will have a detailed discussion.

The meeting is expected to take place for about two hours, it will be live broadcast, but we will not provide for public audiences to attend the meeting. And there will be five representatives from each side. As far as the Government side is concerned, it will be the three of us, the Task Force on Constitutional Development, that is myself; Rimsky Yuen, the Secretary for Justice; Raymond Tam, the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs; and the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau; and also the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah. So I am very much looking forward to having this dialogue with the student representatives.
