In response to a public enquiry regarding local mail delivery service, a spokesman for Hongkong Post said today (October 17) that as a standard practice, local delivery service is provided only for mail items bearing complete and valid addresses.
As stated in the Post Office Guide, a local postal address should include, as appropriate:
- flat and floor numbers;
- name of building;
- number of building and name of street;
- name of village, town or district; and
- Hong Kong, Kowloon or New Territories.
Hongkong Post does not undertake to correct or complete a wrong or incomplete address for delivery purpose. Mail items that do not carry complete and valid postal addresses will not be delivered, and any such items will be disposed of in accordance with established procedures.
The spokesman further clarified that contrary to the earlier reports, Hongkong Post had not delivered mail to the "occupied area" at Harcourt Road.
