Theatre Horizon to begin "Century-old Dreams of a Fishing Harbour" trilogy (with photos)
**********************************************************

Theatre Horizon will stage the first episode of its "Century-old Dreams of a Fishing Harbour" trilogy in November and December.

The story begins as the legendary half-man, half-fish Lu-Tings, the earliest indigenous group of Hong Kong, trace local history in the century between the Opium War and the Japanese occupation. From the influx of Han re-settlers from the Central Plains to the transition from the Qing dynasty to British colonial rule, and from the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party to the Japanese occupation, they are both outsiders and involuntary players on an ever-changing political chessboard. Amidst everything, they have to find a way to survive.

The production is written by Wong Kwok-kui and directed by Chan Chu-hei. The cast includes Wong Lin, Vincent Chiu, Chow Wing-yan, Tam Yuk-ting, Cheung Yik-tung, Oggy Ho, Zip Ho, Leung Ka-chun and Au Tsz-fei.

Theatre Horizon was founded in 2006 by theatre veteran Chan Chu-hei, who has been Artistic Director of the company since its establishment. It is one of the few local theatre companies with a focus on performance research, investigating different performance systems and dramatic styles, and the theories and concepts involved. It works with the belief that theatre mirrors life and society. In the vastness of the realm of theatre, it aims to explore all possibilities in theatre performance.
