Hong Kong Customs seizes heroin at Shenzhen Bay Control Point (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (October 15) seized about 1.5 kilograms of suspected heroin at Shenzhen Bay Control Point, with two women arrested. The market value of the drugs was about $1.2 million.

     Customs officers intercepted an outgoing seven-seat private car at Shenzhen Bay Control Point for examination yesterday afternoon. A total of about 1.5 kilograms of suspected heroin was found on the two female passengers in the car.
 
     The two female passengers, aged 21 and 37, claimed to be unemployed and were arrested for suspected drug trafficking. The case is still under investigation.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
