The Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs (SUCCESS) of the Trade and Industry Department will hold a seminar titled "Understand and Get Prepared for Competition Law" on October 28 (Tuesday). Hong Kong enacted a Competition Ordinance in 2012. The business community - particularly SMEs - have many questions on the contents and implementation of the Ordinance. At the seminar a competition law academic expert will explain the origin of competition law with regard to overseas experience, and an expert from the Consumer Council will illustrate suspected monopolistic practices.
Speakers will also include, from the Department of Economics of Lingnan University, Professor Lin Pin, and Chief Officer of Planning and Trade Practices Division of Consumer Council, Dr Victor Hung. There will also be a sharing session by two industry representatives giving their views on the Ordinance, namely the President of Hong Kong Institute of Patent Attorneys, Dr Lewis Luk, and Honourable President of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Small and Medium Business, Mr Felix Chan.
The seminar will be held at 2.30pm in the Lecture Theatre, G/F, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay (MTR Tin Hau station, exit B). The seminar will be conducted in Cantonese and Putonghua. Admission is free.
