Twenty-three building plans approved in August

     The Buildings Department approved 23 building plans in August, with three on Hong Kong Island, nine in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, nine were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, eight were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 10 building projects that, when completed, will provide 34 834 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 669 units, and 80 508 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for three building projects.

     The department also issued 18 occupation permits, with four on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 28 778 sq m, involving 386 units, and 35 859 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in August totalled about $1.9 billion.

     In addition, seven demolition consents involving seven building structures were issued.

     The department received 5 065 reports about unauthorised building works in August, and issued 688 removal orders on unauthorised works.
