Man arrested for murder

     Police this morning (October 11) arrested a 72-year-old man in suspected connection with a murder case in Sau Mau Ping in which a 37-year-old woman was killed.

     About 6.38am, Police received a report that an injured person was found on a floor of Tat Fu House, Po Tat Estate.

     Police sped to the scene and found the 37-year-old woman lying unconsciously in a lift lobby. Sustaining multiple cut wounds, the woman was rushed to United Christian Hospital where she was certified dead at 7.16am. A five-year-old girl, who sustained face injuries in the incident, was sent to United Christian Hospital for treatment in conscious state.

     Initial investigations revealed that the 72-year-old man had attacked the deceased with a folding knife.

     Police later arrested the man in a unit for murder and seized a folding knife in his possession. He is being detained for enquiries.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Investigations by the District Crime Unit of Sau Mau Ping are underway.
