The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, today (October 10, Eastern Standard Time) attended the Plenary Session of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group in Washington, DC, as a member of the Chinese delegation.
The Annual Meetings provide a platform for the discussion of issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, developments in financial markets and economic development. Participation in the Annual Meetings enables Hong Kong to gain a deeper understanding of the changing global economic landscape.
Later, Mr Tsang attended the signing of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office Agreement.?The agreement is an important joint-defence mechanism to promote financial stability in Asia.
Before concluding his visit to Washington, Mr Tsang held a meeting with the US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, Mr Stefan Selig. They exchanged views on global economy and internationalisation of Renminibi.
Mr Tsang departed for New York in the afternoon.
