The Highways Department today (October 10) invited tenders for "Provision of Barrier-free Access Facilities for Highway Structures - Phase 3 Contract 5" (Contract No. HY/2014/06).
The works are expected to commence in January 2015 and will take about 42 months to complete. The works will mainly comprise:
* Construction of 28 lifts for 18 existing footbridges, one existing elevated walkway and one existing subway in 20 locations in North District, Tsuen Wan, Eastern District, Tuen Mun, Yau Tsim Mong District, Central and Western District, Kwun Tong, Sham Shui Po, Wong Tai Sin and Tai Po;
* Civil works, geotechnical works, electrical and mechanical works, modification works for existing structures, road and drainage works, landscaping works etc associated with the works above; and
* Site investigation works as specified in the Contract.
Tender submissions should be placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box located at the lobby of the public entrance on the Ground Floor, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong. Submission of tenders will be closed at noon on November 21, 2014 (Friday).
The Major Works Project Management Office of the Highways Department has appointed Parsons Brinckerhoff (Asia) Ltd to design and supervise the construction works. Interested contractors can obtain the tender forms and other particulars from the office of Parsons Brinckerhoff (Asia) Ltd at 7/F, One Kowloon, 1 Wang Yuen Street, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong.
