Local arts group the Nonsensemakers will stage its acclaimed production "Travel with Mom" for the third time at 8pm on November 21 and 22 (Friday and Saturday) and at 3pm on November 22 and 23 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Shouson Theatre of the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Adapted from a real-life story, "Travel with Mom" is about a 74-year-old son embarking with his 99-year-old mother on an odyssey in China on a tricycle. The mother had dedicated her entire life to her son's welfare and had never set foot beyond her remote village. Seeing that his mother had toiled all her life and had now become so old that she was immobile, the son decided to travel with her to see the world. The son mounts the rickety tricycle that he built himself and chauffeurs his mother from northernmost Heilongjiang to southernmost Hainan Island, going from countryside to city, wide roads to rugged terrain, flat land to mountains and warm to cold in order to show his mother the beauty of different lands before the end of her life. The bittersweet and moving journey of the mother and her son lasts 900 days and covers 30,000 kilometres.
