Dr Lo Wai-luk to host lecture series on Chekhov's world of drama
***********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present a series of lectures under the heading "Understanding Chekhov - Play Analysis, Reading, Demonstration and Lecture Series" in November and December. The lectures will be given by theatre veteran Dr Lo Wai-luk, who will analyse Chekhov's four major plays to the accompaniment of selected readings by various Hong Kong theatre companies.

Chekhov was a brilliant Russian playwright and writer of short stories. An icon of Russia's 19th century realist school, Chekhov captured the daily lives of different classes while also succeeding in portraying the typical "little man" through his succinct style. His works offer a taste of Russian society at that time while also offering food for thought on the meaning of life.
