The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (October 9) met with a trade delegation from Yucatan, Mexico to discuss business collaboration opportunities between Hong Kong and Yucatan.
Led by the Governor of the State of Yucatan, Mr Rolando Zapata Bello, the trade delegation was interested in tapping the vast experience of Hong Kong as a world-class scientific, innovation and technology-driven centre in furthering Yucatan's economic development
Mr So said that Hong Kong, with a sound financial infrastructure, robust legal system and proximity to the Mainland, was an ideal platform for overseas design and technology start-up companies in raising capital and entering the vast Mainland market.
He also encouraged Yucatan to make use of Hong Kong as a centre for intellectual property trading of Yucatan's brands and innovation.
During the meeting, Mr So introduced to the delegation the macro-economic situation and various investment opportunities of Hong Kong. "I hope that Hong Kong and Yucatan would further develop friendship and enhance economic co-operation in the future," he said.
