The first accredited Montessori primary school in Hong Kong, International Montessori School (IMS), celebrated the grand opening of its fourth campus in Stanley today (October 9) to cater to the growing demand for international primary school places in the city.
IMS is the only Montessori primary school in Hong Kong, and the main focus of the IMS curriculum is to nurture a child's innate desire to learn and discover, at their own pace, and to fully develop their own individual gifts and talents through challenging expectations, self-reflection, and purposeful engagement in the world.
One of the IMS founders in Hong Kong, Ms Anne Sawyer, said, "Hong Kong as an international city has a strong demand for high-quality international school places from both local and non-local students. We are here to not only provide a solid and child-centred education to children, but also to bring much-needed dimensions to the education landscape in Hong Kong. With the Stanley campus, we are able to offer a place to more than 300 international families who are new to the IMS community. We're also organising the first ever Montessori conference in Hong Kong on October 10 and 11 at the new campus, which is jointly organised by the International Montessori Council (IMC) and the Montessori Foundation. There will be education workshops on a wide range of topics."
Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Mr Andrew Davis welcomed the fourth campus of IMS opening in Hong Kong and said, "Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) has been providing support to IMS from the beginning, even before it found its first premises. The school's expansion will provide more choices to parents, especially to those expatriate families who are living or planning to live in the city."
