Transcript of remarks by USCMA at media session (with video)
************************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, at a media session today (October 8):

Reporter: Mr Lau, you said that this will be a dialogue rather than a negotiation. Is the Government going to be sincere in talking about all the issues that the students are concerned about, including the two agenda items that you've already agreed on? Since the meeting is scheduled for tomorrow (sic), 4pm, do you have sort of a deadline or time limit on when you need to have this arrangement?

Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs: We are very sincere to organise this meeting and the dialogue between the Government, the Task Force (for Constitutional Development, and the students). We hope that we have agreed on two items of agenda on the constitutional development. So, we hope that we can stick to the items, and then we can proceed on to the meeting.

Your next question is, we hope that it is the target date, tomorrow (should be Friday), 4pm, but there are some requirements. If we can't find any place to hold the meeting, there may be some difficulties. So, there are a lot of difficulties ahead. We hope that we can solve it as soon as possible, so that we can have the meeting.
