In response to a report in Apple Daily today (October 8) alleging that the Chief Executive has considered asking the Commissioner of Police to step down so as to resolve the present crisis, the Office of the Chief Executive issued the following statement:
"The report is fabricated and the allegation is totally unfounded. Right now, Hong Kong is facing the challenges posed by the 'Occupy Central' movement. The Government and the Police are serving with one heart to govern in accordance with the law and to enforce the law with impartiality. The HKSAR Government expresses deep regret over this fabricated report which causes damage to the stability of Hong Kong."
