Talented music and comedy duo Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo will return in November with a new show combining music and comedy, titled "And Now Mozart".
First, there was a big bang, then a little "nightmare music", and now, Mozart. Some listen to Mozart, some love Mozart, some don't care at all for Mozart, while some have never even heard of Mozart. But this show promises you that it will contain absolutely no Mozart! It will, however, make the audience laugh and increase their love of music by providing a very enjoyable musical experience.
Igudesman and Joo have taken the world by storm with their unique and hilarious theatrical shows, which combine comedy with classical music and popular culture. Their clips on YouTube have gathered over 28 million hits to date, and the duo have appeared on television in numerous countries. Equally comfortable performing in classical concert halls or in stadiums in front of crowds of 18 000, their collective dream is to make classical music accessible to a wider and younger audience.
Igudesman and Joo met at the age of 12 at the British Yehudi Menuhin School and have remained strong friends and writing partners ever since. In 2004, following in the footsteps of luminaries such as Victor Borge and Dudley Moore, they created their first groundbreaking show, "A Little Nightmare Music". Since then they have performed as a duo, and as soloists, with chamber and symphony orchestras at many of the world's biggest stages and festivals.
"Igudesman and Joo: And Now Mozart" is one of the programmes in the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's "Music Delight" series. The concert will be held at 8pm on November 8 (Saturday) at the Auditorium of Yuen Long Theatre and at 8pm on November 9 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall. Tickets ranging from $120 to $300 are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis). A maximum discount of 20 per cent is offered for the "Music Delight" series package and the group booking package.
The "Music Delight" series also includes the programme "Canadian Brass" (October 31).
