WiFi service to be extended to Eastern, Kwun Tong and Sha Tin Magistrates' Courts

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

     The Judiciary announced today (October 6) that WiFi service will be extended to cover the Eastern, Kwun Tong and Sha Tin Magistrates' Courts with effect from October 13.

     The service was introduced in Wanchai Law Courts and the Court of Final Appeal in February and March respectively, and in the High Court and the Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts in June.

     With effect from October 13, court users, including members of the public, will be able to use WiFi services in the public areas, including the courtrooms, of the Eastern, Kwun Tong and Sha Tin Magistrates' Courts.

     Such use would include the use in a suitable manner of text-based communications in courtrooms. In this connection, the Judiciary earlier issued Practice Direction 32 and Notice to Court Users on the use of information technology and text-based communications in courtrooms.
