Police are investigating a traffic accident in Sheung Shui this morning (September 30) in which an 89-year-old woman died.
About 8.30am, a medium goods vehicle driven by a 70-year-old man travelled from Yat Ming Road into Wah Sum Estate. After passing the estate¡¦s entrance, it reportedly knocked down the 89-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious multiple injuries, the pedestrian was rushed to North District Hospital in unconscious state, and was certified dead at 8.56am.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
