Hong Kong Customs yesterday (September 28) seized about 1 kilogram of suspected methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point. The market value of the drug was about $450,000.
Customs officers intercepted an incoming male passenger at Lo Wu Control Point yesterday afternoon and found the drug in a plastic bag carried by him. The man was arrested at the scene. Upon follow-up investigation, Customs officers arrested another man in Mong Kok and seized a small amount of suspected methamphetamine from him.
The two arrested men, aged 40 and 35, claiming to be a funeral worker and a transportation worker respectively, were arrested for suspected drug trafficking. The case is still under investigation.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
