Surprises await blood donors in fun-filled October (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) will roll out a blood donation campaign in October. Between October 1 and 31, all blood donors will be presented with a souvenir (see below) while stocks last, depending on which donor centre they give blood at.   

- Kwun Tong, Shatin and Yuen Long Donor Centres: Key holder
- Mongkok Donor Centre: A set of four memo pads
- Central District Donor Centre: Animal paper weight (choose one from five designs) or cord wrapper
- Tsuen Wan Donor Centre: Folder (choose one from three designs) or multi-purpose bag
- Headquarters Donor Centre: GIVE bandage gift pack
- Causeway Bay Donor Centre: Key ring or phone accessory

     Members of the public who are aged between 16 and 60 (donation is possible up to the age of 70 if predetermined conditions are met), weigh over 41 kilograms and are in good health are eligible to give blood. Male and female adult donors aged 18 or above can give blood every 75 days and every 105 days respectively. Youths aged 16 and 17 can donate blood every 150 days.
