The Non-official Members of the Executive Council (ExCo) today (September 28) issued a statement regarding the commencement of the "Occupy Central" movement:
The ExCo Non-official Members appeal to members of the public to cherish the safety and stability of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and not to participate in any illegal activities of the "Occupy Central" movement.
Members also call on members of the public to seize the opportunity of the second phase of the public consultation on constitutional development to fully express their views. If people of Hong Kong can seek common ground while respecting our differences, we can achieve the shared objective of electing the Chief Executive in 2017 by universal suffrage.
