Tong sculptures hold seductive allure
*************************************

Late Hong Kong artist Tong King-sum had a penchant for art from a young age. At the age of 31, he branched out into sculpture, demonstrating his immense talent and interest in wood carving in his debut piece.

The Hong Kong Museum of Art is now featuring 23 of Tong's works in an exhibition titled "Tempting Touch" to pay tribute to the craftsman. Museum Curator (Modern Art), Ms Maria Mok, says the bold title highlights Tong's ingenuity in creating works that entice the viewer to want to touch them.

"It kind of represents the artistic touch that he bestowed upon a piece of wood that makes it so lively that it almost breathes with an allure that's very tempting."

A feature story in both video and text appears on news.gov.hk today (September 28) to introduce the exhibits' highlights and insights into the artist who sculpted them.
