Police appeal to protesters to leave as soon as possible
********************************************************

Regarding the public meeting being held on Tim Mei Avenue in Central (September 27), some of the protestors forced their way into the Central Government Office (CGO) and the Legislative Council (LegCo) Complex earlier by violent means, and they therefore are participating in an unlawful assembly.

The public meeting impacted public safety and public order, impeded the traffic nearby and affected the rights and freedoms of other members of the public.

For protesters who forcibly entered the East Wing Forecourt (the Forecourt) of the CGO, Police appeal to them to leave as soon as possible. Otherwise, Police will take actions and adopt effective measures to restore public order. Meanwhile, Police also appeal to the protesters gathering on Tim Mei Avenue to leave the scene in a peaceful and orderly manner as soon as possible.

Police reiterate we respect the public's freedoms of expression, speech and assembly. Members of the public should comply with the laws of Hong Kong and maintain social order when expressing their views.
