The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in August showed a drop of 440 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent, when compared to that in July, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (September 24).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of August stood at 256 438 (see attached table), with a total of 391 571 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases and low earnings cases registered month-to-month decreases of 0.9 per cent and 0.5 per cent to 19 531 cases and 8 161 cases respectively. Single parent cases also dropped by 0.3 per cent to 30 205 cases. Permanent disability cases and old age cases both dropped by 0.1 per cent to 18 370 cases and 149 749 cases respectively.
Ill-health cases showed a slight increase of 0.1 per cent to 25 160 cases.
