SEN starts his duty visit in New York (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, started the first leg of his duty visit to the United States in New York today (September 22, New York time) to represent the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government at the C40 Steering Committee Meeting. He also took the opportunity to learn more about the United States' experience in green building development, low-carbon living and other issues related to energy and the environment, especially those applicable to a high-rise urban context.

     In the morning, Mr Wong attended the C40 Steering Committee Mayoral Meeting to exchange views with representatives of other cities on strategies and experiences in tackling climate change. He also joined the opening of Climate Week NYC 2014 in the afternoon and attended the reception for the C40 City Climate Leadership Awards in the evening.

     In the late afternoon, Mr Wong visited the Skyscraper Museum with a view to exploring the relationship between high-rise building and sustainable development.

     Mr Wong will continue his duty visit in New York tomorrow (September 23, New York time).
