The Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved from the Disaster Relief Fund a grant of $0.395 million to Correctional Services Department Credit Union Education Fund (CSDCU Education Fund) for providing relief to earthquake victims in Yunnan Province in the Mainland.
Announcing the grant today (September 22), a government spokesman said that the Committee hoped that the grant would provide relief to the earthquake victims in Yunnan and help them restore their normal life. The grant, together with those approved earlier, will take the accumulative value of grants for earthquake victims in Yunnan to $23.068 million.
"To ensure that the money would be used for the designated purposes, CSDCU Education Fund would be asked to submit an evaluation report and an audited account on the use of the grant after the relief project has been completed," the spokesman said.
