Novice director hits home run
*****************************

The baseball field is where many young people's dreams come true and the same can be said about a film set. Up-and-coming director Steve Chan was able to make his filmmaking dreams come true when he won Create Hong Kong's First Feature Film Initiative competition and was awarded $2 million.

Chan's first feature film, "Weeds on Fire", also helped members of the cast and crew achieve their dreams, including professional baseball player Tony Wu and the two lead actors, Sing Lam and Sham Ka-ki.

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, witnessed the production team's hard work and enthusiasm when he spent time on the film set.

Find out how making "Weeds on Fire" has changed the lives of its cast and crew in a story featured on news.gov.hk today (September 21) in both text and video format.
