Contractor fined for violation of safety rules

Loyal Eastern Limited was fined $56,000 at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts today (September 18) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on July 2 last year in Tsuen Wan. A formwork worker fell about 2 metres to his death from a metal tubular scaffold to the ground while dismantling a wooden formwork on the newly constructed concrete wall of a building.
