Police are investigating a traffic accident in Western District this afternoon (September 17) in which a 84-year-old woman died.
About 2.55pm, a medium goods vehicle driven by a 64-year-old man travelled along westbound Connaught Road West. When turning left into Western Street, it reportedly knocked down the woman who was crossing the road with a trolley.
Sustaining serious multiple injuries, the woman was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital where she was certified dead at 3.34pm.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, are underway.
