HKMA launches video series on consumer education
************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority:

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (September 16) the launch of a consumer education video series to promote "smart and responsible" use of banking services.

The series comprises four videos to promote responsible credit card spending and security awareness of using self-banking services such as ATMs, internet and mobile banking. These videos are presented in a funny and humorous manner to attract public attention.

To widely disseminate the above messages, the videos will be telecast and promoted progressively on different media platforms including the MTR, green minibuses, bus shelters, popular websites such as Facebook and Yahoo, smartphone apps and print media. In addition, the videos have been uploaded on the HKMA website (www.hkma.gov.hk) as well as a newly launched "HKMA Smart Tips Channel" (www.youtube.com/user/HKMASmartTips) on YouTube, so that members of the public can watch the videos anytime, anywhere. They will also be shown at the HKMA Information Centre. (Please refer to the Annex for the hyperlinks and photos of the videos.)

Apart from the video series, the HKMA is going to organise the second roving exhibition in October (details to be announced later) and arrange talks and seminars with students to disseminate the relevant messages and promote smart tips on other banking services through various media platforms in the coming months.

The HKMA launched the Consumer Education Programme in 2013 to promote "smart and responsible" use of banking services. Members of the public are encouraged to visit the HKMA website to learn the smart tips on the use of banking services and to note and join the upcoming related activities.
