Fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung last night (September 15) in which a 51-year-old man was killed.

     At about 11pm, a taxi driven by a 51-year-old man was travelling along Lai King Hill Road towards Kwai Chung. When reaching near Kwai Fuk Road, it reportedly collided with a private car travelling along the opposite carriageway.

     The taxi driver was trapped inside the compartment and rescued by firemen. He was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 1.28am today (September 16).

     Two men on board the private car, aged 38 and 42 respectively, were also injured and were sent to Princess Margaret Hospital for medical treatment in conscious state. They were arrested for failing to provide breath specimen for screening and are being detained for enquiries.

      The case will be handed over to the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South.
