FEHD cancels licence of restaurant in Tuen Mun
**********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene today (September 15) cancelled the licence of a restaurant in Tuen Mun, as the operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the business area.

The restaurant is located at shop A on the ground floor of Four Pearls Building at Tuen Mun Town Lot 177.

"Between August last year and September this year, five convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $15,000 was levied by the court and 120 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of four convictions for the same offence between June 2012 and April last year. A total fine of $11,500 was levied and 60 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspensions for seven and 14 days in October 2012 and November last year respectively.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign, at a conspicuous place near the main entrance, indicating that the premises have been licensed. A list of licensed food premises is available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
