Canadian Brass to perform in October (with photos)

     The popular brass quintet Canadian Brass will stage a concert in Hong Kong next month.

     The concert will feature works by Mozart, Bach, Schumann and Brahms as well as traditional American and Chinese melodies. Highly entertaining and with a reputation for building a rapport with the audience, the ensemble exudes warmth, wit and fun while delivering a unique brass sound.

     Canadian Brass is made up of five extraordinary talents, with Chuck Daellenbach (tuba), Caleb Hudson and Christopher Coletti (trumpets), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (trombone) and Bernhard Scully (horn). Along with technical skill and musical ability each player possesses the creativity, good humour and genuine love of performing that has become the hallmark of Canadian Brass. The varied Canadian Brass repertoire includes  works of Renaissance and Baroque masters, classical pieces, contemporary compositions, jazz, Broadway tunes and popular songs.

     Canadian Brass have performed in many of the world's major concert halls while releasing over 100 albums with over two million sales worldwide. In addition to three Grammy nominations, the ensemble has scored a record-setting 15 Juno nominations. They are one of the Canadian government's go-to ensembles for official state events and are regarded as the brightest ambassadors of the brass repertoire. They are also the first brass ensemble to play on the main stage at Carnegie Hall and the first to tour China.

     "Canadian Brass" is one of the programmes in the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's "Music Delight" series. The concert will be held at 8pm on October 31 (Friday) at the Auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets priced at $150, $220 and $300 are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis). A maximum discount of 20 per cent is offered for the "Music Delight" series and the group booking package.

     Other programmes in the "Music Delight" series include "The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain" (October 5) and "Igudesman and Joo: And Now Mozart" (November 8 and 9).
