Person in custody suffering from chronic disease dies in public hospital

A sick female person in custody from Lo Wu Correctional Institution died in a public hospital today (September 11).
The 42-year-old person in custody suffered from epilepsy and diabetes mellitus and required continuous medical follow-up. At 10.16am, she felt dizzy and was sent to the institution hospital for treatment. As her condition deteriorated, she was immediately sent to a public hospital for treatment. She was certified dead at 11.22am today.
The case has been reported to the Police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.
The person in custody was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of theft.
