Fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan this morning (September 11) in which a 51-year-old man died.
 
     About 9.28am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 44-year-old man was traveling along Shun Tai Road towards Eastern Harbour Tunnel. When approaching near Shing Tai Road, the LGV reportedly lost control and rammed into a medium goods vehicle (MGV) parked at the roadside on Shun Tai Road.

     After the impact, the LGV driver and a 51-year-old male LGV passenger sustained injuries. The passenger was trapped inside the compartment unconsciously and was rescued by firemen. They were rushed to Eastern Hospital where the male passenger was certified dead at 9.51am.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, are underway.
