The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (HKETO Berlin) presented the exhibition "Hong Kong's Evolving Harbour" at Embassy Day Asia-Pacific 2014, co-organised by the Asia-Pacific Forum Berlin and the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research, in Berlin today (September 10, Berlin time). More than 80 guests attended a reception for the exhibition, which was being held at the House of World Cultures.

Over a length of more than 20 metres, the exhibition highlighted major harbourfront enhancement projects such as the West Kowloon Cultural District, a 40-hectare integrated arts and cultural district with world-class facilities; the New Central Harbourfront, offering spectacular views of Victoria Harbour; Kowloon East, a whole new central business district with a high-quality working and living environment; and the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a new gateway from and to Hong Kong and Asia.

The Director of HKETO Berlin, Ms Betty Ho, highlighted the importance of the harbour for Hong Kong. "Hong Kong has limited natural resources, and Victoria Harbour is the best gift from nature that we have. It has made substantial contributions to transform Hong Kong from a small fishing village into an international financial, trade, shipping and logistics centre today. It reflects the vitality of Hong Kong people and the vibrancy of our economy and culture," she said.

Victoria Harbour and its harbourfront areas are being enhanced and revitalised to create a vibrant and connected world-class waterfront that is easily accessible and enjoyed by both residents and tourists. This exhibition introduces major new and future projects that will help unleash the enormous potential of Victoria Harbour for economic development, leisure and civic enjoyment.

Following the Embassy Day Asia-Pacific 2014, the exhibition will be showcased at the Hong Kong Hall of HKETO Berlin. Later in November this year, the exhibition will be presented at China Time Hamburg 2014.
